Only With Mine Eyes
an admiration afar … who we were got us to who we now are
leaving well enough alone … only in the darkness given me am on my own
only my fate given back … seen no need to return emotional attack
no time for grudges … not enough jurors from having too many judges
no one knows better than the heart that’s always true
no one knows you better than you
an admiration placate … too many cooks spoil what they left on paper plates
step eight fences … mending carefully arranged practiced self-defenses
a lake smooth as glass … unbroken surface tempt those made to not last
underneath a fresh-water world of feelings … with its own economy and oxygen ceiling … to not force a ripple by the echo of one stone
I’ve thought it might be best to leave you alone
doctor my eyes . . .
